AV Referendum (May 2011)

This year the British government held a referendum on Thursday 5 May on whether to change the way we elect our MPs.

The public was asked whether they wanted to replace the existing first-past-the-post system for electing MPs to Westminster with the Alternative Vote (AV) system.
