Heather Roach is one of the select band of young musicians admitted to the Conservatoire’s flagship Advanced Postgraduate Diploma course this year. Schubert’s set of seven virtuoso variations on his own song ‘Trockne Blumen’ (from ‘Die Schöne Müllerin’) is flanked by Azerbaijani composer Fikret Amirov’s folk-influenced Six Pieces (1976), and one of several versions of Ceclia McDowall’s 1999 ‘Not Just a Place’, intriguingly subtitled ‘Dark memories from an old tango hall’.
Performance Platform
