Knowledge Transfer Partnerships

Need to drive your business forward? Knowledge Transfer Partnerships

Knowledge Transfer Partnerships is Europe’s leading programme helping businesses to improve their competitiveness and productivity through the better use of knowledge, technology and skills that reside within the UK knowledge base.

We are a leading provider of KTPs in the region, winning the 2010 ‘Best Partnership North West’ at the 2010 national Knowledge Transfer Partnership awards.

What is a KTP?

KTP is a tried and tested three-way partnership between business, the University and a high calibre graduate (a ‘KTP Associate’), to generate innovative ideas to the company.

A KTP typically last between one and three years, during which time both the business and the KTP Associate are supported by academics within the University. Business performance outputs vary considerably from case to case, given the variety and type of projects.

Latest information from the Technology Strategy Board shows that, on average, the business’ benefits that can be expected from a single KTP project (typical duration one-three years) are:

  • An increase of over £220,000 in annual profits before tax.
  • The creation of three genuine new jobs.
  • An increase in skills of existing staff.

Once a business identifies an area where support is needed, the graduate will work on that specific project to achieve a solution.

What are the benefits for my business?

The benefits are manifold for businesses in any sector. You can:

  • Access qualified people to spearhead new projects.
  • Access experts who help take your business forward.
  • Develop innovative solutions to help your business grow.
  • Develop your business for today’s market.
  • Increase your competitive advantage.
  • Improve your performance/business operations.
  • Increase profitability.
