<description> Later this month, Birmingham City University will submit a planning application to build 24,000m&#178; adjacent to the New City Park and Millennium Point in Eastside as part of its continued development of the University&#8217;s City Centre Campus &#8211; an investment of &#163;125m in total. This is "wonderful news" for the City of Birmingham as it is builds on the University&#8217;s presence in Millennium Point and the creative hub being developed as part of Phase I, which will inject &#163;62m regeneration into Eastside by September 2013, when the site opens. <description> Five postgraduate students at Birmingham Conservatoire , part of Birmingham City University, have been awarded funding to assist with their studies after impressing a panel of eminent musicians with their outstanding talent at the 2012 Postgraduate Performance Awards. The Musicians Benevolent Fund works in close collaboration with conservatoires across the UK on the Postgraduate Performance Awards, recognising talented young artists. Following an audition, excelling students are offered funding awards to help with maintenance costs whilst studying, with individual awards ranging from &#163;1,000 to &#163;5,000. <description> A group of Spanish students are experiencing life at Birmingham City University as part of an exchange scheme this month. The five students, who are all trainee teachers at the University of Cordoba, have joined the School of Education (part of the Faculty of Education, Law and Social Sciences (ELSS) at Birmingham City University) for four weeks as part of their studies.  The majority of their stay will be spent on placement at two Birmingham City University Partnership Schools &#8211; St Michael&#8217;s Catholic Primary and Goldthorn Park Primary &#8211; where they will get to experience life as a teacher in an English primary school. <description> Students from Birmingham Conservatoire, part of Birmingham City University, have been recording extracts of works by Benjamin Britten, one of the greatest composers of the twentieth century, which have never been played or heard before. A famously precocious composer, Britten archived the scores of his early, often very ambitious work, which he did not believe suitable for public performance. Only now is it possible to take a longer view and present these extracts, which will be of enormous interest both to the general public and specialists. <description> Jiehong (Joshua) Jiang, a leading researcher and curator in Chinese art, has been conferred with the title, Professor of Chinese Art by Birmingham City University.   Professor Jiang moved from Shanghai to England in 1998 to continue his postgraduate study for an MA in Fine Art at Birmingham Institute of Art and Design (BIAD), part of University of Central England (former name of Birmingham City University). <description> A Nursing student from Birmingham City University swapped her uniform for a tracksuit and trainers at the end of March, when she took part in the National Lottery&#8217;s Olympic Park Run. 39 year old Tracey Ireland from Rugeley, Staffordshire, is in her second year of a Nursing diploma at Birmingham City University whilst working as an auxiliary nurse at Birmingham&#8217;s Queen Elizabeth Hospital.  She was lucky enough to be chosen as one of 5,000 lucky runners picked at random to take part in the event which saw almost 43,000 people enter to be the first to cross the Olympic finish line.
