OPEN DAY BA (HONS) & PG DIP/MA ACTING

Friday 18th June 9.30-5pm

The Open Day is an excellent opportunity for prospective students to see how Birmingham School of Acting supports the progress of its students to become professional in their chosen field.

Birmingham School of Acting is holding an Open Day for prospective students interested in BA (Hons) or PG DIP/MA in Acting. The Open Days are to provide more general information on drama training, auditions and funding.

At BSA’s Open Days you will be able to speak to current students as well as participate in Masterclass sessions with teaching staff. These sessions are designed specifically to offer an opportunity for prospective students to participate in an activity based exercise which provides a brief experience of what it is like to be training at BSA.

The Open Day programme will be as follows

  • Welcome by the Director of the School Mr Stephen Simms
  • Student experiences on the full time acting courses
  • Seminar in how to audition at drama schools – Course Director Mr David Vann

BREAK

  • Masterclass sessions in ACTING, SINGING, VOICE AND MOVEMENT (you must choose 2 out of the 4 masterclasses)

LUNCH

  • The Clink at the Crescent Theatre Main House
  • Open discussion with the cast

  • Masterclass sessions are first come first served basis
  • If you are bringing friend(s) to participate along with yourself please email their details as well along with their email addresses.
  • A confirmation receipt will be emailed to you soon after and further details i.e a map and details of the Open Day approximately 3 weeks before the actual day.

OPEN DAY BA (HONS) STAGE MANAGEMENT

  • Introduction to Stage Management course by Production Manager Jacqui Findlay
  • Deputy Stage Manager (DSM) experiences

Session Two

  • Matinee performance of TBC

Session Three

Backstage Tour

  • Lighting and Sound
  • Stage Management and Design

OPEN DAY BA (HONS) COMMUNITY AND APPLIED THEATRE/ DANCE THEATRE

Friday 25th June 11.30 -5.30pm

Birmingham School of Acting is holding an Open Day for prospective students interested in BA (Hons) in Community and Applied Theatre / Dance Theatre.

At BSA’s Open Days you will be able to speak to current students as well as participate in Masterclass sessions with teaching staff. These sessions are designed specifically to offer an opportunity for prospective students to participate in an activity based exercise which provides a brief experience of what it is like to be training at BSA.

The Open Day programme will be as follows

Session One

  • Welcome and introduction
  • Student experiences on the course

Session Two

  • Exercise linked to the matinee performance of Into the Woods: Example of theatre outreach workshop

Session Three

  • Matinee performance of TBC

Session Two

  • Master class sessions
  • Reconvene with the group for Q&A and to close Open Day

Please note for those who attend the Open Day, we will offer you all complementary tickets to see any of Birmingham School of Acting full scale productions in a venue around Birmingham.
